General Information

Klong Mahasawat is an important canal that serving people’s life in Phutthamonthon area, Nakhon Pathom province for more than 150 years. Klong Mahasawat is a canal excavated during the reign of King Rama IV in 1859 approximately 28 kilometers long flows through Taling Chan Bangkok, Bang Kruai; Nonthaburi Province and Nakhon Chai Si in Nakhon Pathom Province.

This community is outstanding for the location that is adjacent to Klong Mahasawat, the canal that was dug to be the marine route between Chao Phra Ya River and Tha Chin River. Thus, many people lived on the riverside and finally established the communities. Each community built the riverfront pavilion for boat. There were seven pavilions at Klong Mahasawat and one of those are Sala Din, which is one of OTOP village for tourism in Nakhon Pathom Province. This is the learning center to learn about the way of life of Klong Mahasawat community that is opened throughout the year.

The important historical canal is Klong Mahasawat, which is the canal that King Rama V asked to dig for him when he went to pay homage to Phra Pathom Chedi. Currently, “Klong Mahasawat” is the mean for marine transport, agricultural use, and the agritourism site that attracts numbers of tourists to visit here. Many activities are arranged for them such as boating to learn about lifestyle of people on the riverside, visiting paddy filed, lotus farm, and orchid farm, buying OTOP products and processed agricultural products. Moreover, Nahasawat Sub-district is not too far from Bangkok, which is the center of economy, trade, and investment. Therefore, it is convenient to travel. The products sold here are the community products, vegetables and fruits, agricultural products, OTOP products, souvenirs, food and drinks, and products of Mahasawat. There are activities provided such as enjoying the exhibition “Goodness Community Model”, mimosa processing to soil, and learning about community way of life, agritourism, boating in Klong Mahasawat to visit Maha Sawat Floating Market, and Baan Sala Din.

In 1997, the Tourism Authority of Thailand cooperated with the Department of Agricultural Extension. Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives Develop the area along the Mahasawat Canal to be an agricultural tourist attraction and knowledge of eco-tourism management is provided to the villagers.

Cruising along Klong Mahasawat is the most activity to visit this place, along the agricultural tourism route there are attractions points along both sides as following;

Na Bua Lung Jam

Na Bua Lung Jam covers an area of more than 15 rai. There is a pavilion in the middle of the water surrounded by stacked pink lotuses and stacked white lotuses in atmosphere to sit and relax. Na Bua Lung Jam also provide activities such as taking paddle boat to see closely to lotus flowers and there is also knowledge of lotus farming, demonstrations of collecting lotuses, teaching how to fold different types of lotus flowers including the lotus pollen tea, which has a unique aroma and taste.

Ban Saladin Community

Visiting Ban Saladin, you will have experience to do and try “Rightberry Rice Crackers” made from brown rice and dried rice berry, a famous delicacy that is OTOP 5-star product here

Ban Fak Khao Khanitha

In the shady atmosphere here, there will be knowledge on growing rice gac and there are products from rice gac such as crispy noodles, cookies, Nam Yentafo Gac and various processed products such as facial soap and body lotion.

The benefits of guava fruit are antioxidants, reduce the risk of coronary heart disease. The bright red seed coat has high nutritional value. Contains 100 times more beta-carotene than carrots and contains lycopene, 12 times more than tomatoes which lycopene also reduces the risk of cancer as well.

Another highs of Ban Fak Khao is Gac Processed Products by using the bright red seed coat and gac pulp, it is processed into various products such as cripy gac vermicelli, gac juice, soap and lotion that tourists able to buy and take home as well.

Orchid Farm

In the shady atmosphere here, there will be knowledge on growing rice gac and there are products from rice

This orchid farm collects beautiful orchids. There are many species such as Rattan, Cattleya, Vanda and etc.

Tassanee orchids is another identity of the Mahasawat people for tourists to see and take beautiful pictures, with this orchid species having flowers and large bouquets of fresh purple-pink petals that resemble velvet, reflecting light beautifully. For those who are interested in learning how to grow orchids or wanting to buy them back home as well.

Those orchid from the farm will be sold at Pak Klong Talat. It is also exported to European countries and Japan as well.
