Jim Thompson is famous and well-known for Thai Silk he is the founder of Jim Thompson Thai Silk Shop who makes Thai silk famous around the world. Jim Thompson House Museum is an interesting place where you can learn about Asian art, history and Thai culture. Jim Thompson House has a group of six old Thai houses and some of these houses were over a century old. Jim Thompson House is a true work of art and a mix of different styles like marble from Italy and Belgium and the windows are typically Asian style surrounded by big trees that are nearly a hundred years old.

Inside the Jim Thompson House you will see the collection of Asian Art; paintings, antique utensils, sculptures, carvings and other art objects. Such as porcelain exported from China to Ayutthaya between the 15th – 17th centuries, Lopburi-Khmer porcelain Dark brown artifacts are a distinctive feature which made in the 12th century,

Sukhothai and Sawankhalok Thai porcelain produced in 14th and 15th centuries, Benjarong. and lacquerware with golden watermarks painted with Thai patterns 18th-19th century. There are many sculptures of Buddha images including stucco Buddha image in the Dhavarati dates from the 7th or 8th century, many paintings, many small items some of them we have never seen before. Visiting Jim Thompson House, it is experience Thai atmosphere in the old days, going back to the past, informative and fun.

In Jim Thompson Thai House Museum, there will be a Jim Thompson silk shop, which will be filled with various kinds of silk products including clothes, ties, dolls, shawls, scarves and many others.

Finally, the legend of Jim Thompson was ended in 1967 when he traveled to relax with friends at the Cameron Highlands, Penang Island, Malaysia and mysteriously disappeared after walked into the forest not far from the house. It took up to 2 years searched for him, no evidence was found whether it is proof of existence. or proof that Jim Thompson is dead.
