General Information
Pattaya is located 147 kilometers southeast of Bangkok and just a 2-hour drive from Bangkok, Pattaya is Thailand’s premier beach resort and annually attracts hundreds of thousands of pleasure-seeking tourists from all over the world.
Pattaya is famous as an international playground in the sun. Facing a wide bay and a long sweep of beach, it is a seaside resort with city status, and goes all out to offer a huge variety of sporting and entertainment opportunities both on the water and on land. • Coral Island
Coral Island; lying about 7.5 kilometers offshore from Pattaya it takes 45 minutes offshore by tourist boat or 15 minutes by speedboat is the largest of Pattaya’s archipelago. Coral Island offers several white sandy beaches while there a bunch of coral reefs on the other side of the island.
Major attractions include viewing coral reefs from glass-bottomed boats, snorkeling, and scuba diving, windsurfing, skiing and parasailing. There are a lot of seafood restaurants on the island’s main beaches. Deep-sea fishing can be arranged to Coral Island’s neighboring islands such as Koh Khrok and Koh Sak.
Beyond Coral Island another 40 minutes sail is Koh Phai currently under the care of the Royal Navy. Visitors are not allowed to stay overnight here, but it has fine deserted beach’s that are open during the day.
Visitors can choose either snorkeling or viewing the coral from glass bottom boats.
